There can be an exemption if student has scored above 70% in English language in the X and XII STD or if medium of instruction was English throughout school & college.

In order to study a post graduate course in UK, applicants should have minimum 60 % and above in 1st degree though some universities may even accept student at 55% and above in the 1st degree.

In case, if the IELTS requirement for a course that was chose by a student is higher than the standard minimum for visa purposes, students should submit the proof to the immigration authorities that they had met the college's requirements.

Universities and Colleges have specific language requirements for admission, though these vary from one course to another. One should contact the International Office or Admissions Office at the institution to know more details regarding that particular course.

Master's studies (second cycle)

General requirements for studies at French Grandes Écoles

Unlike public universities, which allow all applicants if they hold a French Baccalauréat or equivalent, Grandes Écoles follow a very stringent admission process. Students seeking to study at a French Grande École must hold a Baccalauréat or equivalent diploma and also be well ranked in the competitive entrance examinations, which take place at the end of a two-year preparation program called "Classes préparatoires aux grandes Écoles" (CPGE - Preparatory classes for Grandes Écoles).

Language requirements for studies at universities and colleges in France

French

Since the language of instruction at French universities and colleges is French, you are required to prove your level of proficiency. If you are enrolling in the first or second year of a study program at university in France, you must prove you have an adequate level of knowledge in French language. In general, you are expected to have a level of command of the French language corresponding to B1/B2 in the European Language Passport.

Language Requirements

One needs to have a Hochschulzugangsberechtigung (School Leaving Certificate) in order to get an admission in a German University. In Germany, this is also called the Abitur.

Once the student enters the country where he/she received their school leaving certificate in the DAAD online admission database, then the database will inform them whether their certificates eligible for direct university admission or is eligible only for subject-restricted study (i.e. only for admission to a certain range of subjects).

The DAAD online admission database only provides a general overview. The anabin website database can give detailed information with a more extensive list of countries and school-leaving certificates.

If one’s school-leaving certificate is not sufficient for university admission, then they will have to take a qualification assessment examination in Germany, called a Feststellungsprüfung.

A foundation course called Studienkolleg prepares for this examination. Foundation courses are special programmes which includes module with a focus on certain subject areas offered at universities and universities of applied sciences.

To participate in a foundation course, students must have some basic German language skills.

Usually, it takes two semesters to complete Subject-specific foundation courses. Students who progressed with above-average achievement may be allowed to take the qualification assessment examination after only one semester. 32 hours of instruction per week will be provided by the Foundation courses.

Almost all Universities offer this preparatory instruction for free of cost.

International students, especially non EU students have to show how they are going to finance their stay during their period of studies. For that they need to provide proof of financial resources called “Finanzierungsnachweis”. In most cases, you are required to include this document with your visa application. At the latest, you will need it when you apply for a residence permit.

This Finanzierungsnachweis can be submitted in various ways.

At present, foreign students must prove they have at least 7,908 euro per year at their disposal (about 670 euro per month).

Proof of financial resources can be provided in any of the below ways:

  • Applicant can submit a bank guarantee (or)
  • Parents can submit verified documents or documents certifying their financial assets and income (or)
  • A resident in Germany provides the Aliens’ Registration Office a guarantee to cover your expenses (or)
  • Applicant should receive a scholarship from a recognized scholarship provider (or)
  • A security payment is deposited into a blocked account.

Be sure to enquire at the German embassy in your country as to which form of financial proof is required.

Your diploma is compared wherever possible to a Dutch diploma. If your diploma is unique and cannot be compared, a comparable level is indicated. In addition, individual courses or modules that were taken, the study load and the academic level of the programme are taken into account.

Special admission criteria to join Cyprus Universities

A limited number of positions (up to 10% of the Cypriot applicants) are offered to special categories of people such as the disabled due to acts of war, children of missing persons, persons living in the occupied area of the country, and those with close relatives who died during the Turkish invasion. Admission is open only to candidates who achieve a certain minimum in the examinations. To apply, submit a letter addressed to the Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Services of the University of Cyprus stating the applicant’s identification number, date of birth and choices of departments to be considered for admission, copies of exam scores, and other relevant material indicating the presence of special needs.

Transfer student admissions

A limited number of students from other universities may apply for transfer to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Applications for fall admission are due by March 15 of each year.

Spain

English

In study programs taught in English, students need to have knowledge and command of English.

In order to obtain admission to a doctoral program, applicants must obtain at least 60 ECTS credits.

Accreditation

Official accreditation of overseas higher education qualifications is necessary if the student has completed secondary studies in a country other than the European Union. The student needs to have his/her secondary education certificate officially recognized. This recognition of Bachelor’s degrees may be carried out through Accreditation that the training received to obtain a foreign qualification is equivalent to the requisite Spanish qualifications appearing in the catalogue, or Accreditation at an equivalent academic level stating the academic levels in which Spanish university studies are structured. This will be supervised by Subdirección General de Titulos y Reconocimiento de Cualificaciones, of the Education Ministry Madrid. The Applications are received at Spain’s diplomatic or consular representations abroad.

The applications should be accompanied by a certified copy of the document mentioning the identity and nationality of the applicant, issued by a competent authority in the country of origin /residence. In the second case it can be issued by the Spanish authorities competent in affairs of foreign nationals.

Moreover there must be a proof of payment of the corresponding fee

The documents must have corresponding official translation into Spanish done by a qualified Translator authorized or registered in Spain or by a diplomatic or consular representation of Spain abroad. The certified copies must have photocopies of all the original documents. It will return the original documents.

Fee Payment in Spain:

The Payment will be made after using Form 790. The 790 form can be presented at any bank or credit union and the fee must be paid in cash. Sheet no 3 will be kept under the custody of the bank, and sheets no 1 and 2, will bear the stamp of the bank for having received the payment.
